Entering or leaving the paid toll section of the bridge is very unlikely due to its barriers on the Swedish side. The barrier will only be lifted and let you pass if you have paid the toll. If it doesn’t lift you will be required to use the “Help” button and discuss a manual payment option with the bridge operator staff.
If you drive through the Green Lanes (Express lanes) without a registered plate, high-definition cameras will record your license plate and the system will attempt to match your plate to a contract. If no contract exists, the bridge operator will send an invoice to the vehicle's registered owner.
Note: On top of the standard toll (depending on the vehicle type), you will be charged an additional administrative fee. This fee is typically around DKK 600 / SEK 900 per crossing.
Intentionally bypassing (e.g. tailgating):
- Counts as a serious violation. Fines can reach up to DKK 9,000 (~€1,200)
- Danish and Swedish authorities have the power to immobilize foreign-registered vehicles if they have significant outstanding toll debts until paid (usually via wheel clamp)
